For a relaxing and intellectual evening, take your date and visit the library. Each of you picks out one of your favorite books, then find a spot on a couch and cuddle up for some reading.
You could borrow a movie if you wanted, then go home and watch it with some popcorn. Bookstores like Barnes and Noble are good for dates like this as well. At the end of the night, you can even buy the book for her as a present. The beauty of this date is that you can make it as cheap as you want, if not totally free.

Another game that you can play while you visit the library is have your date try and find the most outrageous book and then you do the same. Then get together and share what you found. Or maybe pick a topic that you each like and find a book about it and share it with your date. This is a great way to get to know them better.
If your date is really into books, maybe you can find one of those old antique style bookstores. There is one near my house which is pretty awesome. Or maybe you happen to live near one of these incredible libraries and want to experience the architecture.
And of course, you need to know where the local library is. Or if you want to go to a bookstore. I went to the library a lot with my family and friends growing up.
Those were some pretty fun times. Reading good books and being with good company always makes for a stimulating and relaxing time.
In college, one of the popular places to meet people to ask out on a date was the periodicals section of the library. There were numerous stories about how a girl and guy met in that part of the library and ended up getting married.
The idea behind this is similar to the museum date; getting to know some of their interests while also having a good conversation.
